{Christmas Advent Calendars}

Christmas is going to sneak up on us, if we don’t watch out. I was talking to Brandon and I don’t know if it is because we are getting older, or because we have a child, or because we seem to be very busy this season, but it feels like the holidays are sneaking up on us. Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK folks. I have seen this done before, but always before I had Zane. Given her love for books, I am planning to do something like this for her this year!

I was reminded by THIS POST by Emily (Emphasis Added) that we have now less than 3 weeks to pull this together. AHHHHH!!!! Must get crackin!

Now, I don’t have enough money to purchase 24 full prices brand new books at the moment – but I am feeling like hitting the used book store and a few sales will do the trick! She may still be a bit to young to fully understand what is going on each day, but I am HOPING this becomes a tradition that she will grow to love. I want Zaner to be a reader like her Auntie Bekah or her Auntie Cindy. One way is to foster the fact that she LOVES reading books right now! We are hardly home two minutes before she will run to her tent – carefully choose a book to read, and sit on your lap, ready with anticipation. She always points out any sports balls or red balloons (Which I think it totally adorable!)

Going with the Theme of advent – here are a few others I found that I JUST LOVE {click on the picture to go right to the source!}

This picture on Pinterest goes straight to a website all in a language I don’t know. However, if you click on the picture here in my blog it will take you to a blog with a tutorial on someone DYI’ing!

This last one is probably one of my favorites, because you could use them every year and they would be big enough to fit everything from something for the whole family to enjoy, down to a verse form the Bible you want the family to think about that day. I will have to make some of these (although maybe not this year.)

At any rate dont forget to start celebrating – get in the holiday spirit – and remember the reason for the season to begin with!

{Flash Friday 3}

This isn’t Rose Gold – it is called Rubedo, and I am in LOVE!

The Birthday Project {here} and then go {here} for more info – THIS inspires me!

A new FAV blog Little Black Door – great DIY and home inspiration!

Have you seen {THESE} photos – HILARIOUS!

I am going to attempt to make {these} soon!

Have a great weekend!!! Finish September strong!

{Here Comes the Bride!!!}

There are very few things that get me more excited than weddings. I LOVE love! Throw in a fall wedding with personal touches that really exemplify the bride and groom and are not just ‘run of the mill’ and I am over the MOON!

I met with a bride this weekend and I am so excited to be doing some projects for her for her wedding. Brit & Raleigh are very unique individuals – some of the coolest people I know. I got very excited as she described what her dream for her wedding is, and how I can help.

I have a few projects I will be doing for her wedding THAT IS NEXT MONTH {yikes I need to get moving!!!} but the one I am the most excited about is a  Photo Booth!!! I love photo booths at parties!!! It is such a great way to document the day! I made one for my daughters first birthday party {See post HERE} and I still love looking at all the pictures!!

B & R’s wedding is very eclectic, very industrial romance which is SO FUN to play with the hard and soft lines of metal and lace.

I will leave you today with a picture that signifies the color palate I will be working with…

Yummy right??? {except I have been told NO WHITE, so replace the white with cream!!}

I can’t wait to get started!!!

{Lets grab a Latte}

Good Morning and Happy Weekend to ya! Lets grab a Latte together!

One of my newest mottos right now is ‘Do what you love, and love what you do’. Such a simple statement but can be so hard to walk out on a daily basis.  If you are not happy doing what you are doing every day – you need to change SOMETHING!!! Take some personal inventory and determine what needs to change!

I created this blog out of a love for DIY projects and creating joy and a special experience for people I can make things for! ‘The Little Red Horse’ blog was born out of the idea that what was old can become new again, what was broken can be fixed, and you can turn something very ordinary into something personal and special with just a little creativity. I have written before about WHY my blog is named “The Little Red Horse”  {You can see that blog post HERE}

So what types of things do I blog about?

***Unique DIY Items – I am currently running for DIY Queen {a position held by many} I really do love finding new projects and putting a personal twist on them. I have a LIST of them just waiting to be done. I blame Pinterest.

*** What I am currently obsessing over – when I find something I love I just have to tell everyone about it!!!

***Party Party Party!! – I love creating one of a kind party elements for people to help them celebrate the milestones of life! Do you have a party or special day coming up – I can help you out!

***I have a very close-knit band of friends and even closer family, so every once and awhile I have to let you know what they are up to!

I love blogging and making new friends. There are so many great people out there that I meet every day. Lets be blog friends!

Remember today to do what you love, and love what you do!!!! Make today count!

{Hello, Hello!}

I can’t believe I was featured on A Cup of Joe today for the Friday Roundup.. I am so flattered! I am just discovering her blog today, and it is AWESOME! I love that she is also on Pinterest!

If you are visiting me for the first time, welcome to my site! Make sure to say Hi – I LOVE making new friends and following new blogs!

{Happy First Birthday Zane!!}

Last Sunday, we celebrated Zane’s First birthday! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to help us celebrate!

As many of you know – I LOVE to celebrate! There is nothing I love more than throwing a party, So the opportunity to put together a fun party for Zane was one I just could not pass up!

I have put together a few picture collages to share the party with you:

{CANDY BAR} I had a great time choosing special treats for the table, including cake pops, chocolate dipped pretzels and Rice Krispie Treats all from Wanna Cupcake in Puyallup. Karie is so wonderful to work with, and she will do whatever you want – she is very creative. Look her up for your next party {or cupcake craving}!!!

I printed my own treat bags because I couldn’t find any I liked! More on that in this post HERE.

{PHOTOBOOTH} My labor of LOVE was the Photobooth backdrop – it took many late night hours, and help from both my mom and sister {THANKS GUYS!!!} to get this done – but I was VERY PLEASED with the result!

I was honored to have my mom and 86 year old grandma {Zane’s grandma and great grandma} here for the birthday party. These pictures of Zane with her Great Grandma Gloria from Minnesota are just about my favorite things ever. Priceless.

{CAKE AND PRESENTS} What party would be complete without cake and presents! Both of these items are “interesting” at a first birthday party. Zane didn’t like the cake, nor was she very excited about opening presents. I am sure her interest will grow with age.

What really made the party THE BEST was the friends and family that made it out – I LOVE doing life with all of you, and I am thankful for the part that each of you play in our life and in raising our baby.

I am going to upload even MORE pictures to my Facebook in the next week or so, but I will leave you with one more set of pictures…. some people need no props……
